Hyde progressed into the third round of the Integro League Cup, after a 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Lancaster City.
The first half in general, was much of a non-event, with both sides reduced to half chances from corners and shots from distance. It didn’t do much to warm the brave 57 who were watching on from the stands in the cold, wind and rain!
Thankfully, the second half opened up with both sides going forward, which left gaps to exploit. Hyde’s best opportunities came down the right with the pace and direct running of Crawford. The tigers almost took the lead when he ran half the length of the pitch before putting a cross in, which Dyche headed goal wards, to be saved by the fingertips of Povey.
A few minutes later the visitors took a turn to try and take the lead as Bailey’s cross found Carsley who just couldn’t direct his attempt goal wards, in reality he should have scored.
Before the game went to penalties, Hyde were reduced to 10 men after Dyche was given his second booking for a foul on the half way line. This didn’t affect the tigers though, as after 6 penalties each, they won 5-4 to advance into the next round, with the opponents yet to be confirmed.
