Both defences couldn’t be beaten at the Project Solar Stadium as Hyde United were held to a goalless draw by Whitby Town
Hyde dominated the first half and will be disappointed not to have gone in ahead after having the better chances and controlling the majority of the game.
Will Russ almost opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, the ball falling to him on the edge of the box and he struck the side netting. Jack Redshaw also had 2 big chances, heading wide on 10 minutes and then forcing a fantastic near post save from Whitby keeper Bland just before half time.
Whitby’s only shot of the first half fell to Gell on 37 minutes but he scuffed his shot over the bar.
Whitby had Bland to thank again on 55 minutes as he saved low down to his right from Tom Iorpenda. Bland was then called into action moments later to tip over a powerful strike from Pratt
Substitute Connor Simpson had a big chance to win the game for the visitors on 83 minutes as his free header from a free kick was headed over the bar from 6 yards.
Whitby almost snatched the winner with the last kick of the game as Greens free kick went a whisker wide of the post. The points shared, the visitors probably the happier with the outcome.
