HYDE UNITED 4 2 CONGLETON TOWN
Tom Pratt 18, 70
Jack Stockdill 28
Matthew Beadle 81
Att: 332 Adegbenro 33
Fletcher 34

For the opening 30 minutes Hyde we very good. Pressing high, wining possession and with almost complete dominance, they created several chances and scored twice, with a lovely headed goal for Tom Pratt off another excellent Luke Porritt cross, followed up by a very well worked goal resulting in Jack Stockdill firing home from 6 yards from a ball pulled back by the hard working Pete Boyle. 2-0 and the crowd were expectantly waiting for the flood gates to open.

Congleton had other ideas. They had good pace in attack, and just before the second Tigers goal they had broken away with the danger cleared by the Hyde keeper who was quick off his line, but with the Hyde players relaxing slightly after their second goal, a wayward pass in midfield was played through the centre and although Peter Crook made two outstanding saves Congleton eventually fired the ball home at the third attempt.

The wake up call was still being dialled through to the Hyde players when Congleton drew level with another straight ball through the middle.

HT 2-2

The second half had the Tigers out early, following a half time re focussing of the players, and they looked much more organised and businesslike. The opening 25 minutes was less dynamic, with the Hyde players looking for patient control of the game, rather than all out attacking flare. It was clear that the squad have self belief, and complete confidence that the lead would be restored, and on 72 minutes, the outstanding Tom Pratt ran clear of two Congleton players before looking up and firing the ball past the outrushing Bears keeper. 3-2 Tigers.

Darren made changes, with Sanchez Payne, Karl Jones & Matthew Beadle entering the pitch for the final 20, and it was the prolific Beadle who put the game to bed with a fantastic first touch to control a ball over the top, before firing home on the turn to open his account for the season and to see the Tiger through safely into the next round.

FT 4-2 HYDE UNITED FC

Most of what the Tigers did today was very good, but Darren Kelly will also know that defensively we need to work on things this week, to ensure the players understand the need to remain focussed even when the game feels like its easy.

Hyde will hope for a decent home draw when the names go into the hat on Monday.
