Before the start of the game, it was 3rd v 2nd in the league, and both sides had to settle for a point at the end of an entertaining goalless draw at the Project Solar stadium.
Warrington Rylands had the first opportunity of the game on four minutes after a poor goal kick by Hyde keeper Jordan Eastham conceded possession to Mo Touray, who ran into the box but lacked composure with the finish and he fired over the bar.
Hyde had the ball in the back of the net on 20 minutes after Manasse Mampala seemed to win the battle of strength up against Javid Swaby-Neavin and slot into the bottom corner but referee Joe Moss, son of former Premier League referee John Moss, deemed Mampala to have committed a foul.
On 35 minutes, Hyde had a series of shots and crosses blocked by a well marshalled Rylands back line and it allowed the visitors to break through Touray, who’s cross met the run of Ben Hough at the far post but he couldn’t direct the finish on target.
Hyde had the biggest chance of the game on 62 minutes. Jack Redshaw found himself one v one against Rylands keeper Luke Pilling, he beat the goalkeeper with his shot but James Butler somehow managed to recover to clear off the line as the ball was going into the bottom corner.
The home side then came closest again on 84 minutes, Redshaw had another shot that was spilled by Pilling, Antoine Makoli struck the rebound goalwards but it was cleared off the line.
Towards the end of the game, it looked like Hyde would be taking all three points, but Lewis Alessandra was denied by the crossbar from a header. Warrington Rylands stay second and Hyde slip to fourth after the draw.
Hyde manager Nick Spooner commented “I thought we played well, I’m disappointed not to have won the game in the end. They are a well organised team, and they aren’t unbeaten away from home for no reason. It was two good sides going for it”
Rylands manager Sam Wilson also spoke after the game “I think a draw was a fair result. Hyde will feel they had the better of the chances but we defended well and we are happy to continue the unbeaten away record. This is a difficult place to come and it was two sides going for the win”
