Worksop Town (H) Match Preview

Worksop Town (H) Match Preview

After recording our first win of the season on Tuesday night, 2-1 at home to Marine, we are once again at the Project Solar Stadium as we host newly promoted Worksop Town, looking to make it two wins on the bounce and continue our early unbeaten home record.

Squad Update

After making it through preseason with hardly any knocks, the squad is now stretched with multiple injuries. Jack Redshaw was substituted in the first half against Bamber Bridge and it is hoped he will be back available shortly. Ritchie Branagan and Sean Tse both missed the win over Marine due to injury. Ritchie is expected to be out for a number of weeks, and the extent of Sean’s layoff is unknown at present. Nick Spooner also confirmed in his post-match interview that Callum Spooner and Harry Bunn are both playing with knocks, however it shows the quality of the squad depth that we are able to pick up results despite the setbacks. It was a welcome return for goalkeeper Dan Atherton on Tuesday to provide cover, and under 21s players Ben Lowe and Faud Kasali have been introduced to the squad.

The opposition

Newly promoted Worksop Town have started the season with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat from their opening 4 games, scoring 7 and conceding 5 goals. They recorded an impressive 4-2 victory away at Whitby on Tuesday, who had a 100% record going into the game. They are led by Craig Parry who is into his 3rd season as Manager, after previously being at Pontefract Collieries. Worksop sealed promotion to this division in impressive style, securing 99 points in their 38 game league season only tasting defeat once, which was on the opening day. Luke Hall is their top scorer with two goals so far this campaign.
