Barry Howard

Barry Howard

We received the sad news on Wednesday that former Barry Howard has passed away at the age of 73 after a battle with Alzheimer’s

He had a couple of spells with Hyde, playing over 200 games. The first in the early 70’s when he scored the winner in the Cheshire Senior Cup Final victory over Altrincham in 1970 and a time in the mid 80s when he scored a memorable second half winner at Worksop Town’s old ground to send us through to the 1984 NPL Cup Final at City’s Maine Road stadium.

In between, of course, he became part of Altrincham’s crack non-league outfit in the late 70’s/early 80s.
The club send our condolences to Barry’s family and we will show a mark of respect before this Saturday’s home game against Worksop Town.
