Ton Up for Shak

Congratulations to Shakeel Jones-Griffiths who recently made his 100th appearance for the Tigers away in the recent draw at Lancaster City.

Joining us on dual reg with Prestwich Heys in 2023, Shak has been a regular ever since and just has the solitary goal to his name.

Mersin Leaves

We can confirm that Yusuf Mersin has left the club to re-join Runcorn Linnets on a permanent deal.

Yusuf joined from Mickleover in the summer and has made 33 appearances across all competitions keeping 10 clean sheets, after a brief spell on loan earlier in the year he has now joined the NPL Division One West promotion chasers permanently.

We thank Yusuf for his contribution in his time at the club and wish him well in the future.

Park Life

We have added to the defensive ranks with the loan signing of Damon Park on loan from Radcliffe FC.

Damon has appeared eight times for the National League North side and they feel the next step in his development is come to the Tigers.

Welcome Damon!

Tunde Checks In

Hyde United are delighted to secure the permanent signing of striker Tunde Owolabi.

The 30-Year-Old signs from Warrington Rylands, having been on loan at Leek Town most recently, and has also had a loan spell at Stalybridge Celtic this season.

Previously the Antwerp born striker had a brief spell with the Tigers back in 2017 but he really shot to prominence at Radcliffe scoring 22 goals in the 2018/19 season and at FC United of Manchester scoring 28 goals in the 2019/20 season.

He has since had spells in Scotland and Ireland and reunites with manager Michael Clegg from his time at Macclesfield FC.

Tunde said ”It’s been a difficult season this season (for me) with injuries and it’s good to come back to the club after all these years.  It’s good to hook up with the manager again, he’s someone I look up to and respect and he’s always got the best out of me”

Welcome Tunde!

Bruno to add some punch

Michael Clegg has added to his striking options by bringing in young striker Bruno Cina on loan from Stockport County.

Cino is only 18 years old and signed for the League One side in July 2024 from Colchester United and joined the academy.  He has made three substitute appearances for the Hatters so far, including scoring the winning penalty in the shootout v Wigan in the EFL Trophy in November.

Welcome Bruno!

Dontai Gabidon signs on Loan

Ahead of tonight’s re-arranged fixture at Lancaster City (7:45PM) we have secured the signing of winger Dontai Gabidon, on loan from Macclesfield FC until the end of the season.

The 24 Year Old signed for the Silkmen from FC United of Manchester in September 2024, making 15 appearances.  After Robbie Savage’s departure the winger has struggled to force his way into the first team and has had loan spells at Warrington Town and Stalybridge Celtic this season.

Manager Michael Clegg was delighted to secure the signing saying:-

”Dontai is someone I have been after as a manager for a while, but the timing has never been right, he’s been at FC United and Macclesfield so knows what it means to play in big games in front of big crowds and he’s a big game player which is what we need with some big games coming up.”

Player departures

As Michael Clegg looks to get his squad into shape the players have departed:-

Jordan Fagbola, Nyal Bell and Mo Malumo have been released.  Lewis Thompson is taking up an offer to go and play football in New Zealand.

We thank the players for all their efforts this season and wish them well.

Also leaving on a short term deal is Ayo Quadri who is going to North West Counties Premier Division leaders Wythenshawe FC on dual reg.

Michael Clegg said ”With the situation we are in we need to freshen things up and try and free up some money to get players in.

In Ayo’s case he hasn’t had a lot of football, he’s still part of my plans but we need him to get minutes so we have sent him to Wythenshawe”

Two Loanee Returns

New manager Michael Clegg has moved quickly to bring Yusuf Mersin back from his loan at Runcorn Linnets and has also brough back Scott Duxbury on loan from Bury FC.

Mersin has made 30 appearances so far keeping nine clean sheets.

Duxbury had a spell earlier in the season, under previous manager Martin Coyne and made six appearances in total.

Both will be back in contention for the visit of Warrington Rylands on Saturday

Michael Clegg Appointed

Hyde United have appointed Michael Clegg to the managerial position vacated yesterday by Martin Coyne. The appointment is initially to the end of the current season.

Michael has an abundance of experience at this level, having enjoyed successful managerial spells at Atherton Collieries, Ashton United, Warrington Rylands and Macclesfield FC, and is looking forward to the challenge of pulling the club clear of the relegation zone.

He will take charge of the team on Tuesday night for the away game at Gainsborough, with assistance from Jack Redshaw.

We welcome Michael to the club.

Statement – Martin Coyne

After today’s home defeat to Rushall Olympic, Martin Coyne has tendered his resignation as manager, which has been accepted by the board.

Whilst enjoying a successful spell after taking over as manager following the departure of Nick Spooner, Martin has found a win elusive in recent games, and today’s result has seen the club fall back into the relegation zone.

Chairman Steve Hartley has paid tribute to Martin’s managership, with thorough preparation for each match, keeping to the budget and communicating at all times. “First and foremost Martin is a Hyde United fan, and he has always done what is best for the club. He can leave with his head held high in the knowledge that he gave it his best shot. I am really sorry it didn’t work out, but am pleased that he will remain with the club to continue the fantastic work he has done with the Juniors.”
Coaches Harry Bunn and Chris Shaw have also been a credit to the club. Their roles will be reviewed once a new appointment is made.
A further announcement will be made in the next couple of days, prior to our next difficult fixture away to Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday..
