Duo sign
Ahead of today’s fixture at Lancaster City Michael Clegg has added some midfield firepower to the squad
Dan Martin and Charlie Hall join the ranks after both were released by Accrington Stanley in the summer.
Martin, 24, made 69 appearances in the EFL for Stanley, Hall, 20, also was released by the Lancashire club in the summer after two years at the club.
Manager Michael Clegg said ”Dan has been training with the PFA over the summer and is keen to get back into full time football, as is Charlie, and if we can help them get back higher then everyone benefits as it shows they will have contributed to us.”
Two in from Stoke
On the eve of the season, Michael Clegg has strengthened his squad by bringing in Ryan Liu and Sanchez Phillips the 18 year old’s join up with the Tigers as we approach a busy start to the season.
Liu, a forward and Phillips a defender have both impressed in the Premier League Under 18 divisions and have made the step up to the Under 21’s.
As part of their development we are grateful to Stoke City for letting them come to us, both will be available for selection for tomorrow’s opener at home to Emley (3pm Kick Off).

Tom Pratt departs on loan
Tom Pratt has joined North West Counties Premier Division side, Droylsden on a month’s loan.
With game time limited since Michael Clegg has come in, it was agreed that the midfielder needed game time.
”Pratty” has made 263 appearances for the Tigers over two spells, after originally signing prior to the 2017/18 season, scoring 64 goals.

Taylor signs a new deal
Last season’s Supporters Player of the Year, Taylor McMahon, has signed a contract for this coming season.
Taylor has impressed since his move from Irlam last summer and despite many suitors has now committed to the Tigers for the coming season
Give us a Songo’o
We are delighted to announce the signing of experienced centre half Yann Songo’o.
The 34-Year-Old has over 400 career appearances to his name.
Yann, who’s father Jacques played as a goalkeeper for Cameroon in the 1994 World Cup, started his career in Spain at Real Zaragoza before starting his career at CB Sabadell before a move to the USA saw him play for Kansas City and Orlando City.
His big break came when he moved to the UK with Blackburn Rovers, after a loan move to Ross County he then moved to Plymouth Argyle where he became a fans favourite making 121 appearances.
Spells at Scunthorpe United and Bradford City followed before two spells at Morecambe followed, where he became a club legend making 109 apperances and staying when loyal even when the club went through financial difficulty.
Following relegation from the National League Songo’o was released and joins the Tigers for this coming season
On securing his signature, manager Michael Clegg said ”He’s a great signing for us, he’s had great experience in the Football League and won many supporter awards along the way, he’s show great desire to join the club and to want to play every minute for us. We wanted a touch more experience and it will come in handy and we have that spine of it now with Dan Gardner, Tom Walker and Jack Redshaw and it’s what we need now with the young squad that we have.”

We can announce that we have signed defender Cameron Bradbury-Allen on a season long loan from Macclesfield FC
The 21 year old has yet to make an appearance for the first team but has featured in the Cheshire Senior Cup for the Silkmen after stepping up from the Under 23 side.
He spent the back end of last season on dual registration at Stockport Town.
Walker This Way
Ahead of tonight’s pre-season friendly at home to Chester FC, Michael Clegg has added to his ranks
Experienced forward Tom Walker joins after impressing on trial, Walker started his career at Bolton Wanderers and made his first team debut in January 2015.
The 30 Year Old has also played at Salford City, FC United, Stockport County, He got a second chance in the Football League with Harrogate in 2020 but only featured 12 times for the Yorkshire outfit. Walker has also picked up two England Caps in the past following his departure from Chorley at the end of last season, he has impressed the manager enough on his trial period to sign on for the season.
Walker said ”Delighted to get to done, I’ve been talking to the gaffer for the past few weeks and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the season now, I’ve still got a bit of life left of me I feel I’m at my peak and I’m ready to do well this season.”
Kevin Keegan – Greatness with Genuine Humility.
On behalf of Hyde United, I want to share a few memories about Kevin Keegan, a man whose achievements in football were extraordinary, yet whose humility was even more remarkable.
During the years when Kevin was the manager of Manchester City their reserves played their home fixtures at Ewen Fields and Kevin attended every match. I was the lucky so and so who had the priviledge before the game to greet him, make him a cup of tea and hand him his favourite biscuit when there was usually only myself and Kevin in the room. This was a man who won the Ballon d’Or twice, captained and managed England, lifted all the major domestic and european trophies with Liverpool, won the Bundesliga title with Hamburg and inspired a generation at Newcastle United, yet he walked into our directors’ room with no ego, no entourage, and no sense of superiority. He arrived early, chatted warmly with staff, and treated everyone with genuine respect.
As a young lad i had always admired Kevin Keegan both as a footballer and a person, I even had my hair permed just like he had, that’s how much he meant to me growing up. To go from copying his hairstyle to sharing cups of tea and biscuits with him at Hyde United felt surreal in the best possible way chatting to him as though i had known him for years. They say that you shouldn’t meet your heroes but i’m glad that i met mine.
I had some amazing conversations with him, one day he told me that his first name wasn’t Kevin at all, but Joe (Joseph) named after his father. Another time, during a chat at Ewen Fields, I said to him, “I bet when you were younger at Scunthorpe United, you practised signing your autograph.” He smiled and replied, “Yes, I really did exactly that.” Even after reaching the very pinnacle of world football, he carried the same modesty he had as a young lad dreaming big.
Kevin showed a real interest in Hyde United, our volunteers, our supporters and our challenges. When he learned the club was struggling financially, without being asked he quietly stepped in to help, no publicity, no fuss, just kindness and generosity offered privately and from the heart.
Kevin Keegan will always be remembered as a giant of the game, but at Hyde United, we will also remember the man who treated our club , and the people within it, with warmth, generosity, respect and heart.
On behalf of Hyde United Football Club, i would extend our deepest condolences to Kevin Keegan’s family, friends, and all who knew him, his legacy will forever remain in our hearts, and his memory will continue to inspire us all, he will be missed.
