Bamber Bridge Match Preview

Bamber Bridge Match Preview

Our first away game of the season is a trip to Bamber Bridge on Tuesday evening. After a hard-fought 1-1 draw on Saturday at home to Guiseley, the Tigers will be looking for their first win of the season.

Team News
There appeared to be no injuries after the Guiseley game, but with multiple matches per week early in the season, the squad may be rotated. Matt Fearnley was absent on Saturday with illness, and will be hoping he will be fit enough to rejoin the squad for this game.

The opposition
Bamber Bridge opened their season on Saturday with a 0-0 draw away to Matlock Town. Beaten in the play off final last season, they lost a number of their key players in the close season to fellow NPL clubs, such as Fin Sinclair-Smith and Paul Dawson, but have signed some experienced players such as Michael Potts and Matt Challoner.

There are 3 ex Hyde players in the Bamber Bridge squad, midfielders Harry Benns and Chris Churchman and striker Louis Holt. They are managed by Jamie Milligan, who had two spells as a midfielder with us in his playing days, and Assistant Manager John Hills spent a short time as a Coach with us under Scott McNiven.

The Sir Tom Finney stadium hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for us for a number of years, but we did record a thumping 7-0 victory against Bamber Bridge in the last meeting between the two sides in our home fixture last season.
