Prescot Cables scored a dramatic last-minute equaliser, via their goalkeeper Calvin Hare nonetheless, as the two sides must meet again in a replay on Tuesday night.

Hyde started off quickly and took the lead in the second minute via Antoine Makoli. Jack Redshaw kept the ball well on the edge of the box and Prescot couldn’t clear their lines. Makoli picked up the loose ball and rifled the shot past Calvin Hare.

Hyde’s early dominance couldn’t result in a second goal they deserved as they had seven corners within the opening 15 minutes of the game.

Hare made a great save to deny Lewis Rawsthorn from close range and then via a low hard shot by Tom Pratt a few minutes later. The Prescot number one single handedly kept the visitors in the game during the opening half.

The home side doubled their lead just before the hour mark as Jack Redshaw’s corner was powerfully headed home by Rawsthorn at the near post.

Prescot searched for a way back into the game and it came after a great run and finish by Jack Goodwin. A throw in was taken quickly and he ran past the Hyde defender, towards the byline before finding the far top corner.

Then came the dramatic equaliser, ninety six minutes played, a corner conceded by the home side. It was delivered to the far post and knocked down by Peter Clarke, before the Prescot keeper Hare, up for the corner, caught the ball on the volley and found the near post.
