Unfortunately all our pre-season games in August are to be played behind closed doors.

The information we have is that games in September will be able to be played in front of supporters, however, that is still under review.

During these uncertain times, things are changing on a regular basis, when we have further information we will post this on our website and Social Media.

But for now, all games are to be held behind closed doors.

Club Captain, Jordan Fagbola, Suffers Devastating Injury

We are disappointed to announce that Jordan Fagbola has ruptured his achilles tendon and looks set to miss the entirety of the 2020/21 season. First and foremost we are gutted for Jordan to pick up such a devastating injury and It’s a massive blow for the whole club as Jordan is the club captain and has been one of the stand out performers over the last 2 seasons. He is a great character who has been outstanding for the club both on and off the pitch. Football is not fair sometimes but he’s the type of character that will come back stronger.

As one of 3 contracted players at the club his contract is set to begin on the first game of the season (Saturday 19th September). The club will stand by Jordan and fulfill his contract as he has shown a great amount of loyalty to the club and has turned down better financial offers from numerous clubs over the last 2 seasons.

Due to the impact of the injury he is going to have to take time off work and will need further time off following his operation. His playing contract is heavily appearance based and therefore there will be financial implications to Jordan.

He has been injured representing Hyde United and we would like to do everything we can to support him, so we are setting up a Gofundme page with all the money raised will go to Jordan.

Two Additions To The Squad

With the announcement of the start of the 2020/21 season, Dave and John had added to the already impressive squad.

The signing of a centre half and a forward adds to the spine of the squad and competition for places.

Forward Louis Myers signs from FC United and Centre Half Tom Morris signs from Congleton Town.

From The Manager

On Tom ;

“Tom has been with us  for a few weeks now and impressed from the very first session. He’s got a fantastic left foot and he will give us a balance in central defence. He’s a ball playing centre half, but he has the other side to his game which we need at this level. Tom has done well at Congelton and I have no doubt that he will make the step up.”

On Louis:

“I was aware of Louis last year after I had a conversation with Neil Reynolds early in the season. They had really high hopes for him but injuries early on set him back. It’s been apparent in training he has the ability. We know and he knows that he needs to work on his fitness. We will give him the environment to become the goalscorer that we have been looking for and the rest is up to Louis. I’m excited to get to work with Louis. If we can get it right then I think we have a player that can move on to bigger and better things after helping fire in the goals here.”

We welcome them both to Ewen Fields Stadium

Another Player Added To The Squad

Hyde United are delighted to announce the signing of Theo Bailey-Jones.

The 25-year-old joins after two seasons at Stafford Rangers.  The tricky winger missed most of last season after rupturing his ACL in his side’s 4-0 defeat at Ewen Fields at the end of August.

The former Wrexham, Macclesfield and Altrincham man was pleased to get the moved done, ” I’m excited to get going, I know they play good football.  The injury is progressing well, it was tricky at the beginning and a tough one to take.  I thought i’d be back a lot sooner than what I am but with the season being delayed it’s done me a little bit of a favour!“

Bailey Jones can play on either wing and manager Dave McGurk was delighted to get his man, ”Theo is someone who if we can get fully fit and back firing can become a very good signing for us, we scouted Stafford before we’ve played them and on each occasions he was their best player and, last season, up until his injury he was the best player against us.  He can give us something similar to what we have with Joel Logan, Chris Sutherland, Paddy Lane and Harry Benns but as they’ve all had injury concerns we may well look to add one more in that position.”

We wish them luck.

Painting The Town Red

It’s been a long time coming, but finally the stadium is slowly reclaiming its traditional red livery.

We started last season by replacing some of our blue seats in the main stand with our Sponsor A Seat promotion, whereby supporters sponsored a seat for a season or two and the monies raised from that allowed us to purchase 50 new red seats.

Just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit we managed to get some red seats from Manchester United, who were doing some work at Old Trafford which freed up a large amount of seats, which they kindly let us have for free and for that we are very grateful to them.

Another small batch of seats that they donated to us a few weeks back and being able to source a supplier to purchase the rest of the seats to match to completely replace all the supporter seating with red seats.

Local upholstery company Warm Front. http://www.warmfrontupholstery.com/, then offered to recover all our seats in the directors box with red vinyl which allowed us to have a main stand completely in red seating.

Also, one of our supporters was able to get new vinyl stickers made up for us, so a thank you to Kerry Higginson should not go a miss either.

It didn’t stop there though, with paint brushes in hand, the volunteers who gave up their time to install all the red seating, then set about painting all the blue paint work in and around the main stand red.

We are grateful to them for the time they have given and the effort they have put in, and the continued time and effort they are still giving as they continue now to paint as much as they can.

It just shows what great supporters and volunteers we have, the likes of

  • Daz Mellor
  • Martin Coyne
  • Dan Seddon
  • Paul Bramwell
  • Simon Moore
  • Arron Bromley
  • Toby Maddox
  • Phoebe Mellor
  • Steve Johnson
  • Danny Jarret
  • Tony McAuley
  • Arron Maddox
  • Angela Harley
  • Gavin Castree
  • Kerry Higginson

A big thank you to one and all.

But our aim is to slowly get the entire ground red, like it used to be. But that will take time, volunteers and of course materials in the form of paint, lots of paint.

If you can spare time to help paint the rest of the ground, any time would be gratefully received even if its only an hour or two, then let us know so we can co-ordinate the works party. Either DM us on Twitter or by contacting someone at the club.

If you are a local company or know a local company that would be willing to donate paint to help us complete the transformation, also either DM us on Twitter or contact someone at the club. We will give a shout out or some advertising to any company who would be willing to donate a quantity of paint and materials.

Let’s get the transformation complete.

Experienced Midfielder Joins The Tigers

Kingsley James, who was at Gainsborough Trinity last season, has today joined the Tigers for the coming season.

As a youth he started his football career at Sheffield United, where he eventually captained the youth side playing alongside Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker.

Kingsley has had spells at Port Vale, Hereford United, Chester, Halifax and Macclesfield Town.

From The Gaffer:

“Kingsley is another player who is going to add real strength to the spine of our team. He works with me and John with our coaching company so we know he’s the exact type of character we want. He’s a winner and will drive standards. He’s been the best player on the pitch in every game I’ve seen him in and that’s including games in the league above. John played with him in the Conference and we believe we have a player who can still play at that level.

With Kingsley, Janni and hopefully Tonguey we have a midfield that will hold its own with the top teams of this league. Talks are ongoing with further signings who will compliment a squad that is coming together nicely. We just need a start date now!

Kingsley will also work as a coach on our Foundation Degree Programme which we will continue with next season. Our reserve team had a great year last year and Kings will add to the team on the coaching side for next year.”

Welcome to the Tigers Kingsley
