Lane has been one of the success stories that have came through the Hyde United academy and scored 13 goals in 67 appearances for the Tigers across all competitions.
Lane commented
‘’ I’ve made no secret about me wanting to move into league football and although I’ve had a couple of disappointments in the past I’ve just kept working hard and I’m absolutely buzzing and can’t wait to get started.’’
‘’I believe the scouts had been watching me for a while during my loan period at Farsley and at Hyde and I went in training there and they kept asking me back and eventually said they would offer me a deal which I was over the moon about.’’
Lane has become a fan favourite with his dazzling wing play and spectacular goals, such as his goal away to Stafford Rangers during the 2019/20 season, that won that seasons Goal Of The Season along with a couple of Young Player Of The Year awards, and he leaves Ewen Fields with fond memories
‘’ The environment at Hyde is really good all the way up from the youth team, with the coaches there, all the way through to the first team and I can’t thank people like Darren (Kelly) for giving me the opportunity in the first team and also Dave (McGurk) has been unbelievable for me, he knew I had what it took and he got behind me all the way and made sure I kept working hard and he’s someone who I really trust and he’s been unbelievable for my development as a player or a person. The volunteers do a great job behind the scenes to keep the club going as it is and it will hold a special place in my heart.’’
Manager Dave McGurk was also delighted for the 20-year-old,
‘’Last season Paddy had four clubs come in for him and it never quite worked out for him and out of all the clubs that came in for him this was the best one as I think he has a real chance to develop there. We’re sad to lose him but delighted at the same time.’’
‘’It’s a massive thing for the football club as we want to promote youth through the academy. They did brilliant work with Paddy before handing him over to us and we’ve improved his game again and he’s got his move.
We’ve only played a small part though as it’s Paddy that has had that hunger with the way he has looked after himself away from training, getting nutritionists involved and that’s what he needed to do to get to that next step.’’
Fleetwood Town’s Development Squad Head Coach Stephen Crainey, said
“Paddy was brought to my attention and when I got close eyes on him in training and from day one, I could see a lot of things in Paddy. In terms of his football, he’s got good knowledge, a good left-foot, good athleti-cism, and he’s a top player – I can’t wait to see where I can push him to see where he can get to. ‘’
“He’s been a credit to himself since the day he walked into the building as his application has been spot on. In terms of mixing with the group I had late on last season, he’s been different class and hopefully he can push himself and touch that first team at some point.”
Everyone at Hyde United wishes Paddy well and look forward to seeing him push on and further his playing career, and become another non-league success story.
Here are some of the goals Paddy has scored for the Tigers
Season away to Workington scoring from a corner

Home to Cheadle

We are saddened to hear of the passing of former player, Des Bunn.
Des was a member of the team who played in Hyde’s very first Northern Premier League match in the inaugural 68/69 season.
Our sincere condolences to son David and family
Hyde United are delighted to announce the final set of players re-signing and also a couple of additions to manager Dave McGurk’s squad.
Liam Hardy and Ethan Beckford have both signed back on for the coming season and will be hoping for more time to impress with last season having been cut short.
On the signings of Hardy and Beckford McGurk said, ‘’ Liam was a big signing for us last season and we delighted he has committed for this season. We know what he’s about, if we can give him the right service he will score the goals we need to be challenging the top end of the table.
He’s a goalscorer, which is something have probably lacked someone who has that born instinct since Matt Beadle a few years ago.
Ethan is another one we haven’t seen much of with the season being cut short. He’s young with an abundance of strength and pace and he’s hungry to impress.’’
The Hyde manager has also added two new additions to the squad for the
2021/22 season, with Tony Donaldson and Luke Hinsley both signing.
Former Matlock man Hinsley is experienced at Northern Premier League level and McGurk said ‘’Luke gives us a different option at the top end of the pitch. He’s caused our centre half’s all sorts of problems with his physical presence when we have played against him over the years.
He’s another player who can score goals and we now have great competition at the top end of the pitch.’’
23-year-old Donaldson joins after spending last season at Ramsbottom.
The Midfielder was a graduate of the Liverpool FC Foundation College and earned a moved into the Football League with Doncaster Rovers.
Donaldson also had spells on loan at Telford before moving to Marine, Colne and then Ramsbottom. McGurk was delighted with the capture, ‘’
Tony been on our radar since impressing us when playing for Colne in a pre season game two years ago.
He gives us something a little bit different to what we have in midfield or in wide positions and he can play in both. He’s technically very good and is a very intelligent player. We feel we can improve his game further and I expect him to be a big player for us.’’
The Tigers are stepping up their pre-season preparations ahead of the first pre-season against a Huddersfield Under 23 side on Friday 9th July.
”Five more players have agreed terms to stay at Ewen Fields as preparations continue for the 2021/22 season.
Chinedu Uche, Theo Bailey Jones, Harry Benns, Seydou Bamba and Carter Waters have signed on for another season.
Manager Dave McGurk was delighted to get the deals done and spoke in glowing terms about each player
‘’Chinedu was a key player for us in the short season we had last year. He’s full of pace and energy and for a young player he’s got a fantastic understanding of the game. He can adapt to any formation we play and I’ll be expecting him to contribute to our goals for column this season.’’
‘’ Theo’s looking sharp in the training we’ve had so far. We were aware when we signed him last season it may take a few months to see the best of him. He’s had a career threatening injury and I’m glad he’s come back looking in good shape. He’s technically gifted and can offer us a bit of everything in terms of a wide man.’’
‘’Harry is another one who’s looked sharp and the lockdown period has worked out well for Harry. He’s got trust back in his ankle and now it’s time for him to kick on. He’s someone who rarely gives the ball away and now we are looking for him to take his game further with goals and assists.’’
‘’ The lads and staff love Seydou. The sharpest player in the league and his 1v1 ability is frightening. We need to work on his understanding in and out of possession. His attitude is brilliant and he has the opportunity to impress in pre season.’’
‘’Carter is another academy graduate he impressed in the friendlies we played at the back end of last season. Another one who we have high hopes for this coming season.’’
The club are hoping to announce more players signing on in the coming days.
As announced on Twitter earlier this week, our 4 year deal with kit supplier Mitre Sports came to an end.
So, the team have been hard at work this past fortnight, putting out tenders for new kit supplier proposals, in total we had around 8 proposals. It was then a case of going through each in detail applying the criteria we were looking for:
We finally reached a supplier we were all agreed upon that achieved all these criteria.
We were also delighted that the new kit supplier is a local company, and we are all about supporting local businesses.
So, we are delighted to announce that our new kit supplier will be JFC Sports, who will be supplying the Hummel range of sports wear for our replica shirts and training wear. Hummel is a quality brand and amongst the teams that use Hummel as their kit are;
To name a few, the full list can be see here, along with a number of Handball teams that use Hummel here.
Another added bonus for us with this deal, we will be having a third kit, something we haven’t had since the 2010 season. The deal also allows us to hold our pricing at £20 for youth replica shirts and £25 for adult replica shirts, by far the cheapest replica shirts that we can find in football, compared with pricing we have seen ranging from £30 up to as much as £45 in non-league football.
Here are the 3 kits we will be using this coming season.
Home Kit, still our traditional red.
Away Kit.
Third Kit.
All these are now available on our online club shop to pre-order – http://hydeunited.co.uk/shop/
Training wear will be available to order online direct from the JFC Sports website, on our own shop with them, the details will be shared once this has been setup.
We would like to thank JFC Sports for giving us a good and competitive deal for the coming 2 seasons.
Here are some more images and videos for you.
