More Signings For The Coming Season

Hyde United have announced the next set of players to have agreed terms for the 2021/22 season.

Midfielders Liam Tongue, Kingsley James, Jack Sherratt and Janni Lipka are all back at Ewen Fields as well as academy graduates Cameron Fogerty and Finn Rourke.

Manager Dave McGurk said:-

‘’We all know what Tonguey is about and we are all delighted he’ll be with us for the forthcoming season. He’s a crowd favourite scored some huge goals for us in his time here and he’s a local lad who’s enjoying playing for the football club and he’ll be somebody we’ll be looking to get double figures out of next year. He’s another one who has attracted interest from a higher level but he wants to be part of this football club’’

‘’In the short season we had last year Kingsley impressed everyone with his attitude on and off the pitch, he’s a real leader and his demands in training and in games have made players better. He’s a bit of an all rounder and can play in any of the midfield positions and he’s another one we’re expecting goals of out next season.’’

‘’Jack’s versatility helps us in the fact that we can switch formations and he can do a very good job in any position he’s asked to cover. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of Jack yet, hiss pre-season was interrupted last season but with a good summer behind him he can be a key player for us.’’

‘’First thing with Janni is to keep him fit, I think we saw in the one game he played last season how good of a player he actually is and he can dictate the tempo of a game and he understands how we want to play. His positioning allows other midfielders to go and express themselves.’’

‘’Cam has progressed through the academy and has impressed us massively since he has been training and he’s got no fear has a fantastic mentality for an 18 year old, he’s come into the group and been fearless and his tactical understanding has really surprised us. ‘’

‘’Finn is another academy graduate he came in with us the back end of last season and impressed in training. He will get a chance to express himself in the friendlies as he gets himself accustomed to the men’s game. He is the type of lad who will grasp the opportunity.’’

Squad Starts To Come Together

Hyde United are delighted to announce the following players have agreed to stay at the club for the forthcoming season:- Goalkeepers Joe Green, Craig Ellison and Riccardo Longato Manager Dave McGurk said:-

We see Joe as a bit of a project and his form for the last 4/5 games before Covid hit was brilliant. He’s got all the attributes; he knows where he needs to improve and he’s doing everything he can to improve. He’s got huge potential and we are delighted to keep him.

Craig will rejoin us for pre season and I’ve had an open conversation with him that’s he’s behind Joe in the pecking order but there’s still a shirt to fight for. He’s great to have around the place and his performance in our last friendly was the best performance I’ve seen in a long time from a goalkeeper.

Ricardo is making fantastic progress. We may look to get him out and playing men’s football regularly. Chris has done some great work with him and he’s got a bright future.

In the defensive department Brad Roscoe, Andy Hollins, Tom Morris, Kyle Brownhill and Jordan Fagbola have all agreed to stay.

On the quintet staying McGurk said ‘’ Brad was our best player for the games we did play last year. I’ve seen a new side to him. He’s training at a new level and setting standards for players to follow. He’s had huge interest so I’m delighted he’s committed to us.

Tom stepped up a couple of levels last year and made steady progress throughout pre season and then went on to be a consistent performer for us. He’s got great ability on the ball and we feel we can improve his game as a centre half. He wants to learn and he’s still a young lad as far as Centre Halves go.

Very similar to Tom, Andy has loads of attributes going for him as a centre half. He’s 6’4, good on the ball and good in both boxes. We both know where he can improve and he’s a willing learner and he’s another young defender who we are excited about.

I’m absolutely delighted to get Jordan back. He will return as strong as ever due to his commitment levels over the last 12 months. He’s put in some serious work and we all know his abilities. He’s one of the best centre halves at this level and we have great competition for places now.

Kyle is a player who I know what I’m getting out of every week. Another one who sets standards in training and is the fittest player I’ve worked with.’’

The club are hopeful of announcing more players staying over the coming week.

Update On Season Tickets

The Hyde United Board of Directors hope all our supporters are keeping well as we thankfully look forward to a return to something like normal activities.

We are extremely grateful for the goodwill shown by volunteers and supporters over the past 12 months and so, in recognition of both that and acknowledging a severely curtailed 20/21 season, all season tickets will remain valid for the upcoming 21/22 season; the General Manager will be writing out to each season ticket holder shortly with further details.

Any new season ticket applications to be purchased will go on general sale from early June and prices will be retained at the 20/21 rate.

We look forward to seeing you all at the Ewen Fields Stadium in the not too distant future

Skipper Signs On For 2021/22 Season

Hyde United are delighted to announce that captain Tom Pratt have signed on for the 2021/22 season. Pratt joined the Tigers from Trafford in 2017 and has gone on to score 42 goals in 127 appearances across all competitions.

Manager Dave McGurk is looking forward to an uninterrupted 2021/22 season and has been working hard over the enforced break to put together an exciting squad capable of challenging the top half of the league.

In particular he is pleased with the signing of the skipper.

“Pratty is the first of many to commit for the 2021/22 season. He is our skipper and has been pivotal to everything we’ve done since he joined.

We’ve had to fend off interest in him which happens with any good player but I’m delighted that he’s agreed to work with us next season.

We’ve had really positive talks with the players. I’m hoping to announce more deals over the coming days and months. I’m looking at adding five or six players to the group but we have players within the group who will be like new signings as they haven’t played a league game for us yet with the COVID situation.”

“On top of that we have Jordan Fagbola, who is a massive presence for us on and off the pitch, close to a return and will join pre-season from mid-June. Harry Benns is back from his ankle injury and I’ve got high hopes for Harry. Janni Lipka is 100% fit and is raring to go, we have seen his quality again in the last game against Lancaster. They are all like new signings for us.”

“We have agreed deals with a further two players but it’s premature to announce them at this point.”

“Along with the coaching staff I can’t wait to get back. I’ve missed it and hopefully we can complete a full season for the first time as management staff! We will keep you up to date as and when the players agree deals along with any news signings.”

FA Update On Steps 3-6

The FA’s Alliance and Leagues Committees have now considered the large amount of data and information submitted by clubs across the National League System (NLS) Steps 3-6 as part of a survey to gather views on the continuation or conclusion of the 2020-21 league season, in addition to the information set out in the Government’s roadmap this week.

Submissions were made by 99.1% of clubs at Steps 3 and 4, and 95.8% of clubs at Steps 5 and 6. We would like to thank the clubs for submitting their views and the time taken in providing responses during what we appreciate is an incredibly challenging period for everyone.

The results of the survey showed that over 76% of all clubs across Steps 3-6 indicated a preference to curtail the 2020-21 league season if it could not be restarted with limited spectator numbers and hospitality before 1 April 2021.

During this process, taking into account views of clubs and leagues it was decided that extending the 2020-21 league season beyond the end of May 2021 would not be a viable option. This was due to various considerations, including the financial implications for many clubs, player contracts and the extent of the fixture scheduling issues caused by the national lockdown and various postponements which had resulted in there being 81% of matches left to complete for Steps 3 and 4, and 75% at Steps 5 and 6.

Taking into account the survey results and the ongoing impact of Covid-19, which continues to adversely affect incomes for clubs due to restrictions on both spectators and hospitality, The FA’s Alliance and Leagues Committees have reached a consensus that subject to the approval of FA Council, the 2020-21 league season for Steps 3-6 of the NLS should be curtailed with immediate effect, with no further league matches taking place this season.

The Committees will now present their collective recommendations to The FA Council for ratification.

It has also been decided that subject to FA Council’s decision regarding the curtailment of the season at Steps 3 to 6, both committees will revisit discussions around a potential restructure at Steps 4-6 of the NLS, which was previously agreed and has been on hold since the 2019-20 season. A further update on this will be provided in due course.

In memory of Derek Partridge

Hyde United are saddened to hear of the recent passing of Derek Partridge.

He was the main organiser of the Manchester City Veterans team and the Club worked closely with Derek over recent years in facilitating charity matches at the ground.

We were in discussions regarding a City v United veterans match in aid of the NHS, which Derek and ourselves hoped would become an annual event for the Colin Bell Memorial Trophy; we certainly hope to host that match when the time is right later in the year and in honour of Derek.

Derek was a tireless worker for charity and a genuinely nice man who will be sadly missed. We send our sincere condolences to his wife Carole and family.”

Along with other clubs at Step 3 and 4, we received a statement from the Trident Leagues with an update on the 2020/21 season.

The Tridents Leagues view is to have the season declared Null and Void, as it was last season.

Any decision will need to be approved by the FA, and before a decision is made all clubs will be contacted by the FA to complete a survey, giving their views.

The football club will make a further statement once we have had contact from the FA.

The full statement is below;

The board of the Northern Premier League has, together with our fellow Trident Leagues, reviewed
the implications of the latest government lockdown. The matter was also discussed at length by The
FA’s Alliance Committee earlier this week.

In order to reach a decision that will apply across Steps 3 & 4 in the National League System, and
which is informed by the views of all clubs at Steps 3 & 4, you will shortly be asked by the Football
Association to provide your club’s views on whether the 2020/21 season should be terminated and,
if not, what the alternative should be. This will take the form of a short survey.

Independent of that survey, all three of the Trident League’s boards hold the view that the season
should cease immediately and be declared null and void.

The ultimate decision lies with The FA Council, following a proposal made by the Alliance Committee
but no proposal will be drafted until clubs’ views have been collated and assessed.

In the meantime, the Northern Premier League is postponing all fixtures up to and including
Saturday 6th March since there is no suggestion that the national lockdown will be lifted prior to this
date.

Paddy Lane To Rejoin Farsley On Loan

Paddy Lane has rejoined Farsley Celtic on another months loan.

From the Gaffer

“We don’t want Paddy to stand still and he’s going to take the opportunity to take another month at Farsley. He’s been subject to offers which have triggered a clause in his contract but he’s unsure if they are the right move at this point. The month allows him to continue impressing at a higher level under Adam and his coaching staff at Farsley. He’s enjoyed his last loan spell and I’m sure this one will prove to be another success.”
