Recap

Spectators at the Project Solar stadium were treated to a flurry of goals as Hyde United were victorious over Whitby Town. Hyde boss Nick Spooner demanded an improved performance after the midweek defeat to Guiseley and his players produced the goods.

Hyde were into an early lead on 11 minutes after Gary Liddle was dispossessed by Lewis Rawsthorn allowing Antoine Makoli to drive into the box and find the near post.

The lead was doubled in the 22nd minute. A superb team goal ended with Rawsthorn slotting home in the six-yard box from a Tom Pratt cross.

Whitby thought they had worked their way back into the game, pulling a goal back in the 37th minute as Matty Tymon found the net from close range. However, they were soon further behind just before half time as Makoli doubled his tally, beating Alex Nelson and Harley Dawson before finding the far corner.

Hyde all but put the game to bed in the 55th minute as captain Jack Redshaw scored from the spot after Rawsthorn was fouled in the box.

Donald Chimalilo pulled one back for the visitors after his curling effort squirmed under the hands of Yusuf Mersin on the hour back.

But ten minutes later Redshaw and Rawsthorn combined to run beyond a weary Whitby defence, Redshaw finding the net for the second time in the afternoon to seal a well-deserved victory for the Tigers.
