Club Statement – Whitby Incident

Club Statement – Whitby Incident

It’s unfortunate that we have to issue a statement on the behaviour we expect of our supporters, both home and away, due to an incident at the Whitby game on February 24th.

Overall our games pass without incident, and we acknowledge that we have a great following of core supporters, which is appreciated by the club and the First Team. However, we will not condone any actions that bring the Club into disrepute. We appreciate that supporters can get frustrated during a game for one reason or another, we all do, but allowing that frustration to manifest into actions that could end up with the Football Club being sanctioned by the FA is unacceptable.

The supporter concerned was identified by our own officials and backed up by way of images supplied to us by Whitby Town. All supporters should bear in mind that most football clubs have CCTV in and around the terraces, as we have at The Project Solar Stadium, and all games are filmed to provide footage to the NPL. So it’s likely, as in this case, an individual can be identified if they step out of line.

We expect all our supporters to behave respectfully at all home and away games, and in a manner that they would expect to be treated.
