Whitby Town Match Preview

Whitby Town Match Preview

We return to the Project Solar stadium to host Whitby Town on Tuesday 7th November, kick off 7.45pm, continuing what is going to be a busy month of games for the Tigers.

Last time out

The Tigers recorded another victory on the road, a 2-0 win over FC United at Broadhurst Park. Goals from Lewis Alessandra and substitute Matt Fearnley combined with a resolute defensive performance secured a deserved three points.

Whitby were in FA Cup action away to League One side Bristol Rovers. Goals from Junior Mondal, and former Hyde striker Connor Simpson were not enough to progress, and they unfortunately lost 7-2 but great credit to them for reaching that stage of the competition.

Head to Head

We currently sit in 4th place in the table, having played 14 league games this season and collecting 25 points, but having only played six games of those matches at home. With many home games this month, if we continue the good form, we can continue to challenge at the top end of the table. We are also second in the form guide over the last 10 league matches, with 21 points, only bettered by table topping Radcliffe.

Whitby have only played one league game since the end of September due to their FA Cup run, a 1-1 draw against Bradford Park Avenue. Having only played 10 league games all season, they will be hoping to capitalize on their games in hand and keep pace with those above them and move up towards the play off places. The visitors have also not tasted defeat on the road in the league this season, so will be a tough challenge for the Tigers. Whitby have a keen eye for goal, with 22 goals from only 10 league matches, and the goals are spread out amongst the forward line. On the other hand, they have conceded more goals (18) compared to our 15, having played fewer matches, so the Hyde defence should be a stern test for them.
