The Hyde United Board were saddened to learn of the recent passing of Lord Tom Pendry.

He was Labour MP for Hyde and Stalybridge from 1970 to 2001, prior to being honoured with a life peerage.

Although not necessarily made public, Tom was a great help to Hyde United on a number of occasions over the years, particularly in smoothing the waters regarding matters of ground development.

More recently, we were delighted to welcome Tom as guest in the Pete O’Brien Lounge for our Boxing Day derby with Stalybridge Celtic.
