A Message From The Board

Dear Supporter,

We hope you and your family are well and all continuing to stay safe at this trying time.The important consideration for us is the welfare of all our community of supporters, volunteers and followers and that we’re all back together again watching and following our Club further down the line.

Thank you again to everyone who has supported the virtual matchday initiative, complete with highlights to watch. The virtual team remain unbeaten and so far we have managed to raise  £4448.20 😊.

We want to assure you we’re trying very hard to keep the Club in business for when we return, the Government schemes are being explored and, though welcome, will take time to be processed. It has meant delaying certain bills and asking for time to pay, with mixed responses from certain service providers, but essentially the Club outgoings still remain, such as utilities, premiums, communication costs, contract wages etc .

We’ve worked very hard over recent years to build up our working relations with the likes of the Manchester FA, Tameside League, Manchester League, Lancs & Cheshire League, Tameside Schools and the North Manchester Girls League, all with their major end-of season Finals days booked on our FIFA 3G surface and all now consequently postponed or cancelled. That, together with our regular bookings including the Rochdale Development unit and our ever-expanding Juniors section, has cost the Club thousands of pounds in revenue, and that’s before we even consider the postponed First Team matches.

We also have commitments to hosting a number of community and charity events in the summer, as well as our own Juniors Tournament over 2 weekends in June, which are all ultimately subject to the Government guidance, and all potentially impacted both socially and economically.

The football club needs to continue to raise funds and therefore we are launching our Donation page to run alongside the virtual games. We are grateful for any contributions during this difficult time for everybody. The Donation page can be found here https://hydeunited.co.uk/donations

Thank you again for any support you can give and please look after yourselves and those dearest to you.

Hyde United Need Your Support – Virtual Matchday Packages

Due to the suspension of the league games for the foreseeable future the football are asking for your help.

With the loss of matchday income and cancellation of block bookings on the 3G pitch we find ourselves in a fight to cover the the costs of running the football club throughout the suspension.

We are launching a virtual matchday package where fans can purchase virtual tickets, programmes, food etc. Any donations, no matter how big or small, will go into the running of the football club.

Our first virtual matchday package for the Radcliffe home game is now available at http://shop.hydeunited.co.uk/#!/Radcliffe-Borough-Game/c/46841334.

The items range from matchday tickets to the legendary Judith’s soup!

Please support us with what you can afford during this difficult time and we hope to see you all at Ewen Fields Stadium again this season.

1st team manager David McGurk has commented on the current situation

‘We have suspended training for the players while the leagues suspension is in place. We have done this to primarily protect the players and help prevent the virus spreading. It’s also very difficult to ask players to drive in when they will not be paid. They are a good bunch and they will keep on top of their fitness at home.

It’s a situation that’a difficult one to comment on. Football has to take a back seat and I’m sure everyone is missing it as much as I am. We were hoping for an exciting end to the season with two semi finals to play. Let’s hope we can get back to it as soon as possible but there are more important things to worry about.

As a club we need help. I hope the FA will take action to provide support for non league clubs as I do fear that some will slip away without financial support. We will try to help ourselves in the meantime. I know things are hard for everyone at the moment but please take time and donate what you can afford to put to a Virtual Matchday Package.

I hope we can see the season out and make it a memorable one for football reasons. Thank you for your support.  #tigers”

A Number of Signings Today

With injuries, suspensions and departures this week the management team have made a number of signings to the first team today.

A loan signing from Huddersfield Town, midfielder Will McCamley until the end of the season.

And 4 signings from the successful reserves team.

From The Manager;

‘Will McCamley joins us from Huddersfield until the end of the season. He reminds me of Paddy Lane in the way he plays and can play on either wing. He’s another exciting young player and will fit straight in with our system. Thanks again to Huddersfield for helping with the deal.’

‘We’ve lost 5 players in the space of a week with suspension and injuries. We have registered 4 reserve players with 2 of them joining the squad tomorrow. The reserves have had an excellent season and are due to win their league. I look forward to seeing how these boys get on with the 1st team between now and the end of the season.’

The signings from the reserves team are;

  • Sam Summerbee
  • Max Pritchard
  • Joshua Churchman
  • Hamid Addai

Striker Departs The Tigers

Dan Turner has parted company with the Tigers and joined Matlock Town.

Dan made 36 appearances for the club, netting 8 goals.

From The Gaffer;

‘Dan has decided to go to Matlock after they made an approach for him. He’s turned down several offers this season to stay with us but he’s been out of the team recently and Dan is desperate to play football. I can’t speak highly enough of him and we wish him the best of luck with Matlock’

‘We will be looking to add to the squad and we may have 1 or 2 signings in before the weekend. Jack Dyche has had an x-ray following his injury last night but thankfully there is no break. ‘

Jon ‘The Beast’ Parkin – Our Sportsman Evening

The Club is pleased to announce that Jon Parkin will be the guest speaker at our Sportsmans Evening on Saturday 16th May 2020.

‘The Beast’ will be well known to football fans up and down the country having played for Stoke City, Barnsley, Hartlepool United, York City, Macclesfield Town, Hull City, Preston North End, Cardiff City, Fleetwood Town, Forest Green Rovers, Newport County and finally York City again before retiring this season.

The South Yorkshire boy has seen and done it all in a footballing life that peaked with promotion to the Premier League and plummeted to the National League North, taking in spells with no fewer than 14 different clubs.

His story is one of a natural goalscorer whose talent is always in demand. His unconventional frame and liking for a lager or ten meant pre-season was always a struggle. His straight-talking style and knack of finding himself in trouble resulted in countless bust-ups with managers. But when patience, cash or contracts ran out, there was always another club ready to take a chance on him.

Along the way there have been battles with booze, betting and depression. Marital breakdown and brushes with the law didn’t help, while thousands of motorway miles were covered in a bid to stay in touch with his Barnsley roots and his beloved son.

There’s also been plenty of mischief. One holidaymaker in Magaluf won’t easily forget what she found in Parkin’s bath while there’s a golf towel in a hospital car park that nobody would want to find.

Parkin has recently released an autobiography – Feed The Beast – pints, pies, and a belly full of Goals to rave reviews described as a riotous account of a footballing career. Famously his normal pre match meal would include fishcake, burger & chips on the night before a game followed by a full English on the Saturday morning.

Tickets are available for £20 per person and includes a pie and peas supper. The night will consist of stories and tales from Jon and a question and answer session plus lots of fun games.

Tickets are expected to sell fast so please contact john@hydeunited.co.uk for more information or you can buy tickets from the club shop from next weekend.
