Festus Cheer

We are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Festus Arthur.

German born Festus started his professional career at Stockport County making just 31 appearances before moving to Championship side Hull City for an undisclosed fee. Loan moves to Barrow and FC Halifax soon followed before a permanent move to the Yorkshire side followed in 2023.  Festus became a fans favourite at the Shay, last season saw a loan move to Southport as he recovered from injury, where he made 27 appearances.

Nick Spooner said on the move, ”Festus has been training with us, he’s had his injury problems over the last season or so, so now we’re giving him a platform to get some minutes and he’s a leader who will help us massively”

Goodbye Lucy

On Saturday, our physio Lucy Graves finished her last game with us as she heads off on an adventure to Asia and New Zealand.

Since joining the club in 2021, Lucy has become a huge part of the Hyde United family and on behalf of the supporters, volunteers, directors and staff we wish Lucy all the best and a big thank you for all your hard work and dedication!

In Memory of Dave Gresty

The Hyde United Board are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of long-time volunteer, supporter and, above all, our friend, Dave Gresty.
Dave began watching the Tigers in the early 80s and formed a merry band, with the likes of his brother, John, and the late Ray Stanley, that used to support the team Home & Away and always with plenty of laughter around.
After joining the Supporters Club, Dave became a stalwart of volunteering, covering a range of duties over many years that included selling raffle tickets – “bottle of whisky, half time draw” – operating the matchday tannoy and more latterly as a diligent kitman in the changing rooms.
Dave was passionate about our Club and always forthright and determined in his arguments and he showed that dedication and determination as he continued to attend matches as long as he was able to; he will be greatly missed.
On behalf of everyone involved at Hyde United, we send our deepest sympathies to Dave’s wife, Christine, his sister Diane (both of whom have also been long-time volunteers and supporters at the Club), together with Dave’s family and friends.
We are playing Stalybridge Celtic this coming Saturday (2nd August) for our annual Ray Stanley Shield match, so, somewhat fittingly, we also intend to pay our respects to Dave with a minute’s applause prior to kick off; please come and join us.

Club Statement: In Memory of Israel Iyabor

The club is devastated to hear the tragic news that Israel Iyabor, a cherished member of our junior football family, has sadly passed away.
Israel was more than just a talented young footballer — he was an influential, bubbly character whose energy, smile, and love for the game lit up every training session and matchday. His coaches describe him as an absolute joy to coach and a privilege to watch on the pitch.
Hyde United sends its deepest condolences to Israel’s family, friends, teammates, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by all at the club.
Rest in peace, Israel. ❤️🖤❤️⚽️
