Under 21s Bounce Back In Style

Under 21s Bounce Back In Style

After the disappointment of consecutive defeats against Atherton and league leaders Newton Heath, Hyde bounced back in style with the first Friday night fixture of the season.  Under the flood lights and with debutant keeper Craughwell in goals and with Carne and Abby returning to action following injury,  Hyde got off to an ideal start.  Pressing the opposition from the start this caused an unforced error from the Avro defence which Luke Toner pounced upon and calmly slotted away.  This settled down the Hyde team and the free flowing football returned.  With Robertson captaining the side for the first time, Hyde put Avro under constant pressure.  Excellent wing play from both Makela and Abby saw Avro defending deeper and deeper until such time they were undone again and Kieran Owen slotting home a great move down the Hyde right hand side.  Fresh legs were introduced just before the break to ensure Hyde continued with the momentum.

Into the second half and Hyde started fast and were looking to close the game out.  After a good move down the Hyde left with Conway supplying Heathcote, he put in a deep cross for Hampson who climbed above the Avro defence to head home.  The lads kept going and pushing forward and it was the turn of Makela with a great solo effort to slot home the fourth.  Avro pressed and a series of saves from the Craughwell ensured Hyde kept their first clean sheet of the season and took the 3 points.  Special mention to the excellent support from the Hyde fans.
