Match Preview – Manchester Premier Cup

Match Preview – Manchester Premier Cup

November 12, 2019

The Tigers welcome FC United of Manchester to Ewen Fields this evening for what will only be the third competitive meeting between the two sides. The first time these two teams met was back in February 2018 in the semi-final of this competition when an early Adam Gilchrist goal was the difference with ‘’The Rebels’’ coming back to Ewen Fields later in the season to beat Trafford in the final on penalty kicks.
After a slow start to the season, Neil Reynolds’s side have hauled themselves up to fifth place in the league table, thanks in part to the goals of Tunde Owalabi. Earlier in the season the Tigers won in their first ever trip to Broadhurst Park in a dramatic game where two first half goals from Dan O-Brien and Liam Tongue gave us a first half lead. Despite an onslaught where Regan Linney pulled a goal back it wasn’t enough.
The Tigers have stuttered In recent weeks but an encouraging 2-2 draw at Lancaste on Saturday has brought some optimism back and tonight sees a chance to progress to the semi-final in a competition manager Dave McGurk has expressed a desire of winning.
So get yourself down for what promises to be an entertaining evening of football
