Hyde United edged a close encounter winning by two goals to one.
Hyde United took the lead on 17 minutes and it was no less than they deserved. A great team move led to Harry Ditchfield pulling a cross back to Harry Bunn in the box and he found the bottom corner.
Morpeth then had a great chance to equalise a few minutes later as Sam Waller made a save from Andrew Johnson and the richochet was pounced upon by Ryan Donaldson but he fired over from just two yards when it looked easier to score.
Hyde were unlucky not to be further ahead at half time, as on 38 minutes Jack Redshaw forced a smart save from Dan Lowson and then the rebound fell to Shakeel Jones-Griffiths who fired onto the bar from the edge of the box.
The second half wasn’t played at the same tempo as the first half with multiple bookings halting the play. Morpeth equalised on 73 minutes as they forced Hyde deeper and deeper and it paid off. Turner found substitute Vinnie Steels who poked the ball into the back of the net past an onrushing Waller in the box.
Hyde managed to get themselves back ahead and it was the decisive goal. Substitute Matt Fearnley crossed into the box and the visitors failed to clear. The ball fell to Jack Redshaw at the far post to fire home for all three points.
