Hyde United made it three consecutive league wins on Saturday afternoon as they beat South Shields 2-1 at the 1st Cloud Arena.
First-half goals from Jonah Mitchell and Liam Tongue were enough for the Tigers to seal all three points.
Hyde found themselves behind early on when Josh Macgowan headed home Connor Tee’s cross, but they responded instantly through Mitchell. Kyle Brownhill’s cross found the Tiger’s number nine, who tapped in his effort in the sixth-minute.
Tongue then made it three goals in as many league games for the visitors as the hosts tried to play out from the back an underhit back pass was latched onto by the Tigers number 10 and he slotted past goalkeeper Myles Boney in the 27th-minute.
Jack Dyche and Mitchell also had opportunities to increase the lead before half time
The game didn’t come without its difficulties for Hyde, and not just from the opposition. The weather played its part as well, causing the surface to be slippery throughout.
In the second-half was quieter than the first in terms of goals, but didn’t come without its chances for the home side Joe Green made a double save to prevent South Shields from equalising with just over 15 minutes remaining and Blair Adams hit the outside of the post for the home side.
