Hyde secured our first points and win of the season after an impressive 3-0 victory over Grantham Town.
Tom Pratt got Hyde off to a perfect start, with a goal after just 6 minutes. He was free on the edge of the area as Liam Tongue floated the corner in. It was headed away and the ball fell to Pratt who fired into the bottom corner.
Corner taker Tongue then found the back of the net himself 10 minutes later to double the lead. A good move started by Fogerty as he won the ball and laid off to James, who found the run of Hardy, he flicked the ball into the path of Pratt who crossed for Tongue to head home inside the box.
Hyde had multiple chances to extend the lead before the break, the majority coming through Mitchell, who impressed the with his pace and skill on debut. If it wasn’t for keeper Pollard, it could have been more before half time.
The second half wasn’t as eventful, but Hyde managed to control the game, limiting Grantham to only a few chances to get back into the game.
The win was secured in the 84th minute as Hyde broke from a Grantham set piece. Benns had travelled with the ball at pace, and he passed to Pratt who squared across the face of goal for Hardy to tap home.
