The visitors collected all the points in a tight and scrappy affair thanks to a set piece goal 10 minutes from time in this league opener at the newly named Project Solar UK stadium.
The tigers started the better of the two sides in the opening 20 minutes, with the majority of chances falling to key man Tom Pratt. He created multiple attempts at goal but failed to take the lead as Atherton keeper Hutchinson made some fine saves.
Atherton’s best chance in the opening half fell after a good run from Rokka down the left who found Lenehan inside the box. He was allowed room to shoot by the Hyde defence, but Green was on hand to tip the ball around the post.
The second half started where the first half finished with both sides struggling to take charge of the game and keep the ball down, with minimal chances for either team.
The longer the game went on it always looked like one chance would win it and it fell to the visitors from a free kick.
Lenehan delivered a superb ball into the box and Hansen managed to glance a header goalwards which left Green with no chance to take all three points back to Bolton.
