Hyde secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup after a 5-0 victory in Newcastle against Northern league outfit West Allotment Celtic.
In games like this, it can be often easier to manage for the underdog side so Hyde couldn’t allow any complacency to affect their performance.
The tigers got off to the best start possible and were ahead on 15 minutes after Uche was taken down in the box, Paddy Lane stepped up to score from the spot. 0-1.
West Allotment tried to play the right way out from the back but this proved their downfall for the second goal, as a loose pass combined with the timed press from Hyde allowed Liam Tongue to pick the ball up from the edge of the area and find the bottom corner for 0-2.
The home side didn’t let their heads go down before half time as they had a few chances of their own to get back into the game. The best chance being a diving header that went over the bar, but should have gone into the back of the net and would have changed the course of the game.
After half time, we resumed control when Lanes free kick was whipped into the box, the ball bouncing around and eventually falling to Kingsley James who put Hyde 3-0 up.
15 minutes later and Tongue grabbed his second of the match, with another strike into the bottom corner from outside the box, which has become his natural finish! 0-4
The final goal of the game came on 75 minutes when Lanes wide free kick into the six yard box was turned into the back of the net by a West Allotment player. 0-5.
A pleasing and comfortable victory after a long journey secures our place in the draw for the next round. Many thanks to our welcoming hosts for their excellent hospitality that we received on the evening.
