The points were shared in a goal-fest Tameside derby at Ewen Fields as Hyde United and Ashton United battled out to a 3-3 draw.
The tigers looked rusty to begin with and Ashton took advantage with Tames running onto a ball over the top and placing the ball past Mewitt at the near post.
Although it wasn’t long before the tigers got their equaliser when Turner reacted quickest, hitting a shot low and hard past Carnell, whose fingertip couldn’t prevent the ball finding the bottom corner.
The tigers were ahead 5 minutes later when Pratt chased what seemed to be a lost cause, managing to keep the ball in play to cross first time for Turner to fire home inside the box. It was then Ashton’s turn to draw level and in bizarre fashion. Mewitt played the ball to Thompson whose attempt to clear the ball ricocheted off Rowney and rolled past Mewitt in the Hyde goal.
The rest of the first half remained goalless however, it wasn’t long before Hyde regained the lead when Liam Tongue picked up a ball on the edge of the area and blasted into the top corner, leaving Carnell with no chance. The visitors made sure they left with a point as with 20 minutes remaining, Wilson rose highest to a Anghel corner.
