Nick came in to replace the departing Jim Gannon in February 2022 when the Tigers were in a relegation battle.
He brought with him Gavin McCann as his First Team coach, and retained the services of the backroom staff already in place.
Having secured an 18th place finish in that first season, avoiding relegation, Nick has gone on to narrowly missing out on a place position in the following 2 seasons, finsihing 5th, just outside the place off positions.
Nicky signed YTS forms with Bolton Wanders in 1987, and went on to make 23 first team appearances for them. But his playing career at Bolton was cut short when he suffered a broken leg in a match against Burnley. In 1999 he moved to the USA and spent a year with Charleston Battery before returning to England to play non-league football for the final years of his playing career, And made 11 appearances for the Tigers in 2003.
His coaching career started back at Bolton as a youth coach, In November 2011 he was working as the Under 16s’ coach,and become the club’s Head of Youth Development in January 2013. In September 2016, he was promoted to Under-18s’ head coach. After 17 years in his coaching roles at Bolton, he left in January 2021. Later that year, in June, he was appointed as the new Youth Team Coach at FC Halifax Town.
