Hyde United v Lancaster City

Hyde United made it back to back wins and back to back clean sheets as they were narrow winners over Lancaster. Jordan Scanlon with the only goal for the game in the first half.

Lancaster had goalkeeper Aidan Dowling to thank for keeping the score goalless for as long it was as he made two great saves.

On 9 minutes, Halifax loanee Frankie Sinfield went on a mazy run and opted to cut inside and shoot. However Dowling stretched full length to his right to tip the effort round the post which was on its way in the corner of the goal.

He was then called into action again in the 18th minute. Ben Kershaw hit a powerful shot from the right of the area which Dowling made a fingertip save to tip the ball onto the post and away from danger.

Hyde did manage the breakthrough in the 20th minute. Callum Spooner and Drew Baker combined to take a quick free kick to release Jordan Scanlon who entered the area and thrashed the ball into the top corner with an unstoppable strike.

Lancaster started the second half the better side and looked likely to score the next goal. However on 57 minutes their task was made more difficult as Dylan Thompson received his second yellow card for pulling back Harry Ditchfield.

Neither side created many clear cut opportunities after this point and Hyde were happy to take the three points.

Hyde United v Gainsborough Trinity

Draw specialists Hyde United produced another as they were held at home to Gainsborough Trinity, their sixth 1-1 draw in their last nine league games.

Gainsborough keeper Dylan Wharton was called into action twice in the opening 10 minutes. He pushed away a shot from Matt Fearnley inside the opening minute and was then alert to punch over a shot by Frankie Sinfield in the 10th minute.

Gainsborough took the lead in the 14th minute. A series of throw ins, free kicks and crosses into the box put the Hyde defence under pressure and they switched off to allow Declan Howe to tap home at the far post following a cross along the six yard box.

Hyde had a big penalty shout turned down in the 20th minute as Wharton took down Holmes off the ball but the referee didn’t see the incident.

Hyde pulled themselves deservedly level a minute before the break. A well worked free kick routine saw skipper Joel Amado pull himself free at the far post to find the net with a composed finish on the volley.

Both sides had chances in the second half but it was the home side who dominated and will be disappointed not to have taken all three points as they played a lot of the game in the oppositions half.

Wharton produced another good save in the 72nd minute as Jack Redshaw turned and shot from the edge of the box. He tipped the ball onto the post and away from danger.

Hyde United v Morpeth Town

A late equaliser for the visitors meant it finished all square between the two top ten sides.

The home side started strongly with two chances in the opening two minutes. Ewan Bange had a shot in the box blocked behind for a corner and the resulting delivery was only cleared as far to Matt Fearnley on the edge of the box but he volleyed over the bar.

Morpeths threat came down the right with Jack Foalle as they constantly switched the ball over towards him. He attempted to catch Callum Hiddleston off his line in the 15th minute but luckily the goalkeeper saw the shot go wide.

Hyde took the lead in the 25th minute. Frankie Sinfield’s corner wasn’t cleared by the Morpeth defence and Joel Amado pounced on the loose ball to find the back of the net from a few yards out.

There was a comical moment in the 32nd minute as Hiddleston caught a pass back from Harry Ditchfield. The Morpeth free kick from 10 yards was dragged wide by Foalle.

It would only take one chance for the visitors to take a share of the points and it fell in fortunate circumstances in the 93rd minute. Dan Barlows shot from the edge of the box took a wicked deflection to wrong foot Hiddleston and go into the back of the net.

Hyde thought they had a winner in the 95th minute as Drew Baker headed goalwards from a long throw but Langley clawed it off the line.
