Hyde United v Mickleover

The points were shared on the opening day a first half goal from Jack Redshaw for Hyde was cancelled out by Dylan Edwards in the second half for Mickleover.

Mickleover keeper Yusuf Mersin was called into action twice in the 11th minute, firstly to deny Redshaw from 3 yards and then to keep out a 25 yard volley from Ayo Quadri that was destined for the top corner.

Redshaw put Hyde ahead in the 21st minute. He had a shot blocked on the edge of the box, but it fell back into his path after Weston failed to clear and he volleyed into the bottom corner.

The visitors lost their composure after the goal as they struggled to get hold of the ball, with three players receiving yellow cards for late fouls. Their best chance came in the 42nd minute as Will Atkinson was free in the box but dragged his shot wide.

Mickleover equalised in the 67th minute. Edwards was brought down on just inside the box and a penalty was awarded. Edwards stepped up and the penalty was saved by Hyde keeper Callum Hiddleston but the rebound was tapped home to save Edward’s blushes.

Both sides had chances to win towards the end of the game and in the dying moments Stuart Beavon rounded Hiddleston and only had to tap home to take all three points home for Mickleover, but he tried once again and Hiddleston managed to come back to save.
