Hyde United made it back to back victories to move up to 8th but were made to work hard for their victory by relegated side Blyth Spartans.

Blyth had changed their manager during the week and they couldn’t have made a better start, taking the lead in the 5th minute, albeit with a big slice of luck. Hyde goalkeeper Callum Hiddleston came out to clear the ball, but his clearance hit the back of Dean Briggs who ran onto the loose ball and slotted into an empty net.

Hyde equalised in the 15th minute. Jordan Scanlon crossed from a tight angle and after a goal-line scramble, Bradley Holmes got the final touch to level the game.

The home side took the lead a few minutes after half time. Captain Jack Redshaw was found in the box by Scanlon, and as he rounded goalkeeper Lewis Baker he was tripped and the referee pointed to the spot. Redshaw stepped up and calmly slotted home.

Blyth came back fighting and equalised in the 54th minute. A superb strike from distance by Briggs found the bottom corner, earning him his brace.

Hyde secured the win in the 83rd minute. Substitute Harry Showman, making his debut as an 18 year old on loan from Salford City, lived up to his surname he produced a cheeky backheel on the line to wrong foot the entire defence and find the back of the net.
