Recap

The points were shared in the Tameside Derby as Hyde United drew 1-1 with Ashton United.

Hyde started the better of the two sides and should have opened the scoring in the 4th minute. Ashton’s back line didn’t deal with a ball into the box and Ben Kershaw found himself free in the box. A mixture of a poor finish and a good save from Jordan Eastham kept the scores level.

Ashton opened the scoring with their first attack of the game on 12 minutes. Bernardo Couto whipped a cross into the box and Louis White was there head across goal and into the corner.

Hyde equalised in the 26th minute. Ayo Quadri picked up a loose ball in the Ashton half. He looked up and saw the run of Jack Redshaw and played a pass over the defence. Redshaw produced a calm and composed finish over the onrushing Eastham and into the back of the net.

Chances were few and far between in the second half, with Hyde having the majority of the ball but struggling to break down a stubborn and organised Ashton team who would be the happier of the two sides with the point. Both sides remain on the fringes of the play off places.
