Recap

Hyde United ran out 1-0 winners over Markse to get back to winning ways, but they will feel disappointed it wasn’t more as they wasted countless chances to make the scoreline more emphatic.

The visitors had keeper Ryan Catterick to thank for a string of good saves in the first half to keep the game level. The best of the lot being a dive to his left to deny Callum Spooner volley from outside the box.

Manasse Mampala should have opened the scoring on 10 minutes when he was found from a corner but put his shot over the bar.

However, he redeemed himself on 25 minutes when a good spell of play led Ditchfield to cross into the box to find Redshaw, he headed back across goal to Mampala who found the net from 6 yards.

Markse had a great opportunity to draw level after the break as the ball fell to Hopson and his shot was destined for the top corner but Atherton pulled off a great save to tip over. 168

Any chance of a comeback for the visitors was dashed 15 minutes from the end when Adam Gell was sent off for a second bookable offence for a foul on Pratt.

Hyde had numerous chances squandered to put the game to bed, but some good saves by Catterick and poor finishing meant the game finished only 1-0. Hyde can have their eyes looking up the table with many games in hand on those above them.
