Recap

Hyde United jumped up to second in the league after coming from two goals down to beat relegation threatened Atherton Collieries. Three goals in ten minutes either side of half time sealed a great comeback victory.

Atherton took the lead on 22 minutes, Harry Ditchfield claimed he was fouled in the box by Enoch Lusiama, but the whistle didn’t sound and Lusiama poked the shot into the bottom corner.

Atherton doubled their lead on 40 minutes, as a throw in was worked well and Lewis Thompson was found in the box, he calmly chopped back inside and slotted the ball into the top corner to stun the home crowd.

Hyde got back into the game just before half time with their first moment of quality. Josh Doherty whipped a great free kick into the box and Joel Amado finished on the volley in the 44th minute.

Half time substitute Jack Redshaw made an instant impact to equalise on 52 minutes as Manasse Mampala drilled a cross along the six-yard box for Redshaw to tap home at the far post.

Hyde continued their momentum and completed the turnaround on 54 minutes, a low cross into the box by Ditchfield wasn’t dealt with by Atherton defender Mo Ali and Matt Fearnley punished his mistake and found the bottom corner, which proved to be the final and all important goal.
