Recap

Hyde United recorded a comprehensive 3-0 victory away at Bradford Park Avenue in a game they dominated from the first minute.

The home side struggled to keep possession of the ball in the first half, through a combination of aggressive pressing from the visitors and loose passing made for more pressure on the defence than they’d like.

The first half pressure from Hyde paid off on 43 minutes as a shot from around 25 yards by Matt Fearnley caught goalkeeper Sykes-Kenworthy out. He got a hand to the strike but it wasn’t enough and the ball found the back of the net.

Any hopes of an early Bradford fight back quickly faded on 53 minutes as Hyde doubled their lead. Ryan White found space on the edge of the area to drill a shot into the bottom corner past a stranded Sykes-Kenworthy.

Hyde’s third goal was the best of the game, if not the season, on 76 minutes as Jack Redshaw produced a brilliant solo run with the ball across the entire length of the Bradford half, dribbling past numerous failed challenges and firing into the bottom corner.

Hyde were reduced to 10 men with 5 minutes to go as Sonny Whittingham’s late challenge on Luca Havern gave the referee no choice, but the home side couldn’t reduce the deficit and it was a comfortable win for Hyde.
