After a slow first half an hour of the game, it finally came alive as Hyde took the initiative, passing and moving with pace which forced Basford very deep. The main outlet came from right wing back Harry Ditchfield whose crosses were causing problems for the defence. He found Matt Fearnley on 35 minutes, but his shot was well saved by Kieran Preston.

The visitors had a huge opportunity to go in ahead at the break as on the stroke of half time, Sam Waller dropped the ball in the box and fouled Remaye Campbell in his second attempt at claiming and the referee pointed to the spot. Campbell stepped up but the ball clipped the inside of the post and Waller managed to clear. In stoppage time, Basford had another opportunity, but Aaron Fleming blocked on the line from Brodie Litchfield’s shot.

In the second half Hyde dominated the possession, created multiple chances but Basford defended well and looked to nick it on 89 minutes but Campbell hit the post. The referee signalled 6 minutes of stoppage time, and the visitors disrupted play at every opportunity. This allowed the game to get to 11 minutes of stoppage time and Antoine Makoli found space in the box to strike the ball which went in off the post to seal a dramatic win for Hyde.
