Recap

Hyde United secured their place in the third qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup after a 2-1 victory over Albion Sports, who are two divisions below the hosts. Hyde dominated the possession and chances but were made to work hard by the visitors.

Albion Sports had their goalkeeper Stephen Fearnley to thank for a great double save on 26 minutes to keep the scores level. Jack Redshaw took a shot on the edge of the box, which looked to be curling into the bottom corner, but Fearnley tipped away, and Hyde midfielder Matt Fearnley tried to tap home the loose ball but Fearnley managed to block.

It took 62 minutes for the deadlock to be broken as Redshaw’s cross was perfectly floated for Fearnley, who glanced the header into the bottom corner. The visitors had a big task now to get back into the game and it was made tougher as Redshaw doubled the lead only a minute later. A superb individual goal as he tricked his way past the defenders in the box and calmly slotted into the bottom corner.

Albion Sports were given a glimmer of hope on 77 minutes as Joel Amado was robbed of the ball by Lewis Waddington, and he ran through on goal to score past Sam Waller. However, they couldn’t find the equaliser and Hyde saw the game out to secure victory.
