Hyde United FC U21’s v Waterloo AFC Open Age – Manchester County Cup
Chalk and Cheese springs to mind when you analyse the performance this week compared to the previous week. With a number of key personnel returning and 2 debutants on display Hyde were completely dominate! From the very off, Hyde pressed the ball well with pace and power constantly attacked the Waterloo defence. In the seventh minute Hyde were awarded a corner which Dan Evans whipped to the back post and after a header towards goal, Will Heathcote swept home a loose ball to give Hyde a well deserved lead. This gave Hyde confidence and with debutant Brian Ly in midfield Hyde were stroking the ball around and stretching the Waterloo defence. Chance after chance came and finally following a long period of possession Brian Makela was put through to confidently finish past the Waterloo keeper. Hyde entered the half time team talk with a well deserved 2-0 lead.
Hyde made all 5 subs at half time, replacing the forward line and bringing on fresh legs in the middle of the park. The pressure didn’t let up and Hyde were soon awarded a penalty following a foul on the returning Brad Page! Brad Page got up and confidently struck home to give Hyde a 3 – 0 lead. This didn’t spell the end of the scoring and with Hyde completely dominating possession Brad Page grabbed a second before Brian Makela wrapped up the tie to give Hyde a 5 – 0 victory and a place in the next round of the cup
