SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC 0 2 HYDE UNITED
Att: 2003 Matthew Beadle 13
Luke Porritt 44

WHAT AN AMAZING DAY for the Club, The Fans, Management Team & Players.

It is 23 years since the tigers last made it this far, and to have achieved this with the last three draws away against Warrington Town, Boston Town and Scarborough Athletic, everyone can be extremely proud of their efforts. This is a huge achievement, and for some will be a defining event.

THE GAME

It started at a frantic pace with both sides showing attacking intent. Hyde set up with the wind behind, and weathered early pressure from Scarborough, without looking troubled, and with enough pace to make sure Scarborough were not in a position to over commit. With 10 minutes of end to end football out of the way, Hyde settled down and started to threaten, winning a corner. The ball was placed down by MOM Janni Lipka, and fired into the box where that man Matthew Beadle, lost his marker, making an intelligent run in behind the defender to get his head on the ball infront of the keeper. 1-0 HYDE UNITED FC

Scarborough were shocked, but unable to make any clear cut chances for themselves, and on 33 minutes Hyde doubled their advantage when a low driven cross from Chris Sutherland was missed by everyone and side footed home by Luke Porritt at the back post.

HT 0-2 HYDE UNITED FC

Scarborough were out early for the second half, and with the wind behind they were on the front foot and looking for an early break through. Paddy Miller and Tyron Gay, supported by Kyle Harrison and James Burke were not going to concede, and they chased, harried and won the ball on the floor and in the air with 100% support from Peter Crook who claimed every ball from every corner, and Scarborough had eight in the second half.

Hyde were set up perfectly, with Karl Jones replacing Beadle and half time, working his socks off along side the outstanding Tom Pratt who ran himself to a virtual standstill, but his energy and ability contributed to the result.

Neither Hyde or Scarborough created any clear cut chances in the second half, and it was a measure of the control the Tigers had that Peter Crook only had one save to make in 95 minutes of football.

FT 0-2 HYDE UNITED FC

Amazing result, and a fantastic opportunity for the Club. Around 180 fans & officials made the journey to Scarborough and along with the players and staff they will be eager to see who we get in the first round draw on Monday evening.

WELL DONE EVERYONE INVOLVED!
